Power connectors built for the realities of temporary deployment

Generator rental, event distribution, load bank testing, mobile power. Your crews mate connectors in the rain, in the dark, on gear from a dozen vendors. KUPO Power builds the cam-type and single-pole industrial connector systems that make temporary power a profession, not a prayer.

Why temporary power is a discipline, not a category

Single-pole separable connectors carry the feeder current for rental generators, events, construction sites, and generator load testing. They are also, by code and by standard, never intended to be connected or disconnected under load. That single constraint reshapes every operational choice that follows.

What our customers tell us hurts the most:

Hot-plug risk is a code issue, not a bad habit. UL 1691 scopes these connectors as feeder and branch accessories, not load-break devices. Every SOP you write has to enforce that.

NEC 406.13 demands a system, not just a connector. A qualified person plus at least one of: source interlock, sequential interlocking connectors, or a caution notice specifying the correct sequence.

Keying, color coding, and labeling discipline is non-negotiable. Without it, phase identity gets lost the first time a crew rushes a load-in, and cross-phasing incidents follow.

Outdoor, wet, dusty, dragged, stepped on. Feeder sets live hard. Ingress protection while mated and touch protection while unmated are both revenue features, not marketing.

Load banks stress the system in ways events do not. Near-rated current, long duty cycles, paralleled feeder sets. Small torque or contact resistance drift becomes a thermal incident.

Which KUPO family fits your temporary power job

KUPO Power supports both the North American cam-type ecosystem (K-LOK, UL Listed) and the UK, EU, and Australia keyed single-pole ecosystem (PowerFit, TUV certified). Rental fleets live in both worlds, and we built for that reality. PowerFit 400A is cross-mating compatible with industry-standard Powerlock® single-pole connectors (verified through in-house testing), so you can migrate to PowerFit on your own timeline without scrapping existing cable assemblies.

K-LOK cam-type connectors. Designed in Taiwan. UL Listed. Drops into your existing cam ecosystem.

K-LOK 150A and K-LOK 400A are built to the North American cam-type single-pole standard. Three reasons North American rental houses, touring companies, and live event contractors spec K-LOK over no-name imports:

UL Listed. Real certification you can show the AHJ. NEC 406.13 and UL 1691 alignment out of the box. When the authority having jurisdiction asks for the listing, you can show it.

Factory-direct lead times. Skip the distributor backorder shuffle. When you need a feeder set for a Friday load-in, KUPO ships direct.

OEM customization for rental houses that want their name on the connector. Private label, custom colors, and co-branded runs. We say yes where the incumbents say no.

Already running industry-standard cam-type connectors? K-LOK intermates with your existing cam ecosystem. No orphaned cable assemblies, no fleet rebuild, no retraining.

PowerFit 400A. Designed in Taiwan. Ships faster. Customizes further. Costs less.

Three reasons rental houses and touring companies are moving from legacy single-pole inventory to KUPO Power PowerFit 400A:

Lead time that fits your project calendar. Factory-direct in weeks, not months. No European distributor backorder queue, no long shipping-lane dependencies.

Price-to-performance that protects your margins. TUV-certified build at a fraction of legacy European pricing.

OEM customization for buyers who need it their way. Private label, custom colors, configuration changes, and co-branded runs. We say yes where others say no.

Already own Powerlock® cable assemblies? PowerFit 400A is cross-mating compatible with industry-standard Powerlock® single-pole connectors (verified through in-house testing), so you can migrate to PowerFit on your own timeline without scrapping existing inventory.

Codes and standards we design around

NEC 406.13 UL 1691 NFPA 70E OSHA arc-flash guidance BS 7909 (UK) IP67 / NEMA 3R IEC 60529

NEC 406.13 is the load-bearing requirement for North American temporary power: listed or labeled single-pole separable connectors, white housing for grounded (neutral) and green housing for equipment grounding, and connection or disconnection only by a qualified person under at least one of a source interlock, a sequential interlocking connector system, or a caution notice specifying the safe sequence. KUPO Power sells both the connectors and the system-level compliance discipline around them.

Temporary power deployment patterns we see every week

Generator docking with interlocked transfer

Rental generator ties into a facility dock panel via a five-connector feeder set (L1, L2, L3, N, PE). The docking panel carries Cam-Lok receptacles and a mechanical interlock preventing both sources from being connected at the same time. K-LOK 400A fits the Cam ecosystem and pairs naturally with Eaton-style interlocked quick-connect panels.

Load bank testing with paralleled feeders

Generator load testing demands near-rated current and long duty cycles. Load bank manuals call for multiple Cam Locks per phase plus ground, grounded first before the test. K-LOK 400A or PowerFit 400A carry the current; the discipline that wins is torque audit, phase labeling, and a thermal scan after steady state.

Event distro with tap boxes and three-fers

A main feeder set runs into a distro; tap boxes and three-fers reshape branches fast. KUPO distro boxes accept cUL-listed K-LOK receptacles or CE-approved PowerFit receptacles, and phase identification is carried through the color of the connector body itself, not just a label that gets scraped off in week three.

Outdoor festival deployment in wet ground

Wet grass, mud, forklifts, and constant reconfiguration. PowerFit 400A delivers IP67 while mated and IP2X finger protection when unmated. Pair with documented torque on every set screw and cotter pins that never get reused, and your incident rate drops before you change a single person on the crew.

System-level compliance is the real product

The sequence that keeps crews safe

NEC 406.13 provides the teachable sequence that every rental operator should enforce. Connect in this order and reverse to disconnect:

1.  Equipment grounding conductor (PE) first.

2.  Grounded circuit conductor (neutral) if present.

3.  Ungrounded conductors (phases) last.

Layer in interlocked dock panels or sequential interlocking connectors where available. Otherwise post a caution notice on the line connectors specifying the sequence, as permitted by NEC 406.13. Apply protective caps and dust covers immediately after disconnect. Follow manufacturer torque specifications for every set screw. Never reuse retention hardware that the manufacturer has flagged as single use.

Connector choice by scenario
